What do we KNOW? And how does what we KNOW change the thoughts we think, the decisions we make, the words we speak and the way we live?
Gravity exists, we know the truth about it, right? Although we don’t consider gravity by name regularly, it does change the way we live. We make decisions everyday with gravity in mind- how quickly do you volunteer to climb a ladder? We know that we know that we know gravity. Do we know God’s truths that way?
As we walk through life and we come upon a situation that we’ve not encountered before, it is imperative that we seek God’s truth about it. And when we get that truth, we must reconsider the way we think about the situation through the filter of that truth. And when we change the way we think, we speak differently, make decisions differently and live differently. THAT IS WHAT GOD WANTS! God wants our lives to look different than those who don’t know His truth. He wants His truth to transform our minds! He wants us to be ever aware of Him and His truth as we go through each day, trusting and believing Him.
God tells us that when we KNOW His truth, it will set us free. What does that freedom look like? It means we are free to live into our lives as God designed us. We are free to live life abundantly up to the boundaries of protection He has set in our lives. KNOWING His truth and being free is to operate in His truth in abundance we can’t imagine, in a peace where nothing is missing and nothing is broken.
Imagine if we would KNOW His truths about marriage? If we looked at our marriages and spouses through the filter of Ephesians 5:22-33 or 1 Peter 3? What would happen if we changed our thoughts to line up with these scriptures? Husbands would love their wives like Jesus Christ loves the church, every day, regardless of whether or not they are loveable; and wives would respect and esteem their husbands, even when they are not respect worthy. What a legacy for our children!
KNOW that every minute of every day, you have a decision to make- to KNOW God’s truth regarding marriage. Make that decision. Decide to live respectfully and fearfully of that truth, just as you do of gravity. When you don’t live your with with regard for gravity, you will likely fall and go SPLAT! KNOW, respect and employ His truth for your marriage, or your marriage will fall and go SPLAT!
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” -John 8:31-32
