Nag, Nag, Nag! Are you a NAGGER? Maybe you don’t even realize it. I’m about to step all over my own hot pink, polka dot polished toes and I am going to need a pedicure by the time I finish! Ouch, here goes…
You know there was a time in my marriage when I would meet my husband at the side door just as he was arriving home from work, and I can assure you I wasn’t standing there wrapped in cellophane or eager to give him a kiss! “How was your……” I could not even finish the question before I blurted it out. “You’re late, dinner is cold, Tyler wants new shoes, when you fix the bed make sure you turn the pillow tags facing the back, and do you know how many calories you could burn by picking up your own towels!”
Whew, talk about throwing a twenty-five pound bowling ball and hitting him in the gut. No doubt he wanted to grab his calculator and deadline budgets and head straight back to that hospital- probably to get himself a room.
I have found out that nagging words can kill romance, his self-esteem AND disrupt family peace. Ladies, God calls us to be ENCOURAGERS! We need to be our husband’s biggest cheerleader. Our words are to affirm the good, lift him up, and to bring out the very best in him. Let’s pray today that God will lead us to choose words of grace . Give me a R-I-C-K. What does it spell? RICK! GO RICK! Who’s the most handsome hunk? RICK, GO RICK! Yeah! Let’s cheer for our spouse. We are on the same team! Oops, I got carried away. Let me see now, where is that old set of pom poms…….
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. -Ephesians 4:29
