5:30AM is a majestic time of day. Call me crazy, but there is something special about running outside before the sunshine peeks over the horizon. There is a special quiet, a tranquility and stillness about watching the world come to life around you. Well, this morning, a car in a driveway turned on its lights, marginally illuminating the grass about 10 feet in front of me. And in that oddly thrown light I saw a FIERCE CHIHUAHUA, standing his ground!! Now you may be laughing because a chihuahua is just a little dog, but there are two of them on my running route, they bark A LOT and have those sharp needly teeth! All I could imagine in that split second was that little ankle biter sinking his teeth into my leg! In that moment, I stepped onto the firm roadway instead of the grass, and saw that what I initially thought was a fierce chihuahua was really tall grass in need of mowing. All it took was a change in perspective to see the truth about my running situation.
In what areas of your life do you need to change your perspective with God's truth? In your marriage? With your kids? For your work situation? Banish those perceived fierce chihuahuas from your life by choosing to step onto the firmness of God's Word by getting His perspective on things seen, unseen and imagined. -Sherry
