What Will You Choose? - Part Two

Living by your feelings is extremely dangerous.  It can not only destroy your marriage; it can destroy YOU.  It can tear you down and leave you utterly alone.  Because our feelings fail us all the time.  Every day. And for me, my feelings betrayed me.

Little by little, I lost myself in my feelings.  My mood and my days were shaped by how I was feeling. The way I interacted with people was a direct result of my feelings.  Really, sometimes I still live this way.  But I have learned that it is not a good way to live. It's not safe.  The results can be devastating.

And for years, my life was unraveling before my eyes.

One compromise after another.

One bad decision stacked on top of the other.

what will you choose part 2

I was learning how to die.

...it's eerie really how closely a song by Jon Foreman resembles the conversation the other man and I had that day in February 2012, as we closed the final chapter of the misguided story we wrote together.

Tread lightly.

Be very careful when you make decisions in your life.

Make sure that they are good ones.

Even the seemingly small ones.

Make choices that will lead to life, and not to death. I've been at death's door, spiritually anyway, and it is a place of darkness, confusion, and fear. Nothing good comes from even dipping your toes into that water. It might look peaceful and bright and good. But it isn't. Take it from someone who has been there. Someone who has compromised values and her very self, and found that when it is all said and done, that path leads only to death.

And yet, there is still hope. For those who are in that place, or who love someone who is knocking at death's door.

There is always hope.

It is found at the foot of the Cross.

At the Foot of the Cross (Beauty for Ashes)

At the foot of the cross Where grace and suffering meet You have shown me Your love Through the judgment You received

And You've won my heart Yes You've won my heart Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty And wear forgiveness like a crown Coming to kiss the feet of mercy I lay every burden down At the foot of the cross

At the foot of the cross Where I am made complete (I am made complete) You have given me life Through the death You bore for me

And you've won my heart Yes you've won my heart Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty And wear forgiveness like a crown Coming to kiss the feet of mercy I lay every burden down At the foot of the cross

Trade these ashes in for beauty And wear forgiveness like a crown Coming to kiss the feet of mercy I lay every burden down At the foot of the cross

And you've won my heart Yes you've won my heart Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty And wear forgiveness like a crown Coming to kiss the feet of mercy I lay every burden down At the foot of the cross

I'd trade these ashes in for beauty And wear forgiveness like a crown Coming to kiss the feet of mercy

I lay every burden down I lay every burden down I lay every burden down At the foot of the cross

I'm laying every burden down I'm laying every burden down
