Praying Away Worry

"Worry is making payments on a debt not due." "Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday."

worry1

Worry is all around us, it is human nature to be concerned about our situations, circumstances, loved ones, and the future. Concern is different than worry! The enemy, in his effort to steal, kill and destroy, takes your natural concern and show you all the things that may happen, leading you away from trusting God and resting in His sovereignty. Worry is the opposite of faith. If you let him, the enemy will lead you down a rabbit hole of "what if" questions, each answer taking you one step closer to despair. The weight of worry will consume you. causing you to be physically ill and exhausted. Why?

Because worry is outside of God's plan.

Worry is taking on tomorrow's concerns when you were created for today, to live fully in today, trusting the God who created you, loves you, and provides for you. He sees your tomorrow, and wants you to wholeheartedly obey, trust and love Him today as He works out your tomorrow. So, when worry starts to creep in, when you hear the enemy telling you that tomorrow will be a repeat of your past, pray boldly!

Precious, perfect, sovereign God, I speak Your words boldly over my worries. You have promised my heart will not be troubled when I cast my cares on You, trusting You for my today, tomorrow, and the redemption of my past. I thank You that as I pray, worry will flee from me and that Your joy will return to me. In accordance with Your Word, which does not return void, I pray…

...that I will not be anxious about my life, what I will eat or what I will drink, nor about my body, or what I will put on. My life is more than food, and my body more than clothing. I gratefully look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and You, my heavenly Father, feed them. I am so much more valuable than them! Thank You that being anxious does not add even one hour to my life. I will seek first Your kingdom, Lord, and Your righteousness, and all these things shall be added to me. ~Matthew 6:25-27; 33

...that I will not let my heart be troubled. ~ John 14:1

...that I will let Your peace rule in my heart. ~Colossians 3:15

...that You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in You I will trust. ~ Psalm 91:2

...that when I lie down, I will not be afraid; that I will lie down and my sleep will be sweet. ~Proverbs 3:24

...that You, Lord, will supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:19

...that I will not be anxious about tomorrow. God, You will take care of my tomorrow too. I will live one day at a time. ~Matthew 6:34

...that when I am tired and am carrying heavy loads, and You will give me rest. Lord, thank You for Your teachings, I want to learn from You, because You are gentle and humble in spirit, and in You, I will find rest for my life. The burden that You ask me to accept is easy; the load You give me to carry is light. ~ Matthew 11-28-30

...that I will remember that Your peace You leave with me and that Your peace You give to me, not as the world gives do You give to me. Thank You for not letting my heart be troubled nor afraid. ~John 14:27

...that I will be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, I will let my requests be made known to You, God, and Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7

For this reason, we bow our knees to You, Lord, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that You would grant us according to the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened with might through Your Spirit in the inner man, that You will dwell in our hearts through faith; that we will be rooted and grounded in love and may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height, to know Your love, Jesus, which surpasses knowledge, that we may be filled with all the fullness of You, Lord. You are able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all  that we ask or think, according to Your power in us, to You be the glory to all generations, forever and ever.  AMEN!

Which of tomorrow's worries are you taking on today? Pray them away...leave them in God's hands, in tomorrow, where they belong.
