Created to Wait

We’re all waiting for something aren’t we? Whether it’s for the coffee to brew in the morning, the pounds to melt away, to check out at the grocery store, a teenager to return home one evening, a positive word from the doctor, or a breakthrough in our marriage, everyone can make a list of the things for which they are waiting. And I know I don't like to wait.

There’s something powerful knowing that my Creator, the Creator of the universe, designed me to wait on Him.

God Created You to Wait on Him

Waiting on Him is not a side effect of my circumstances, it’s not a last resort, it’s not happenstance, it’s not cliché, it’s not how we pass time, it’s not something we just decide to’s what we are DESIGNED to do.  For me, all of a sudden, waiting on God is more than obedience; it’s worship and how we live into the fullness of how He created us.

HOW we choose to wait is such a powerful part of how we reflect our faith to the world around us. We are called to wait hopefully, expectantly and joyfully and powerfully; worshipping, praying and serving while we wait. In fact, God says it is GOOD to wait!

There are some significant things we are waiting on God for. We've decided we would wait years in obedience if the Creator of the universe tells us to, rather than making a move in disobedience.  He's called us.  He's got us in this place for a reason, so we'll get even more diligent in our efforts.  We'll wait on Him.

What are some things YOU are waiting on?

Look around [you, Habakkuk, replied the Lord] among the nations and see! And be astonished! Astounded! For I am putting into effect a work in your days [such] that you would not believe it if it were told you.You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. ~Psalm 16:11 (Amplified Bible)
The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him. The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him [inquire of and for Him and require Him by right of necessity and on the authority of God's word]. It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord. ~Lamentations 3:24-26 (Amplified Bible)
