Yesterday was our anniversary. There were no flowers, no cards, no romantic dinner...nothing.
September 21 is a significant day in Scott's life and mine. On September 21, 1991, we married, two young kids who had no idea what we were doing. I had my plan for marriage, Scott was along for the ride. And what a ride it was. Like the television game show Let's Make a Deal, our marriage had a 14 season run, as we divorced on our 14th wedding anniversary.
As we woke up together this morning, 23 years and a day after we first said I do and 9 years after the most painful day in our lives, we prayed, thanking God for saving us from ourselves, for His forgiveness, grace, redemption, mercy, love, for working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes, for turning our mess into a message of hope, and because we know that even still, the best is yet to come.
That is true for you, too. The best is yet to come. As long as you are breathing, there is still hope for YOU, in whatever you are walking through.
Lord Jesus, thank You for saving us from ourselves, for picking us up, cleaning us off, and drawing us near to You. We love You so much!! Thank You for what You are doing in the life of every person reading this, show them Your glory, show Yourself strong in their lives, draw them near to You that they may feel Your strong, loving arms wrapped around them today. You are still sovereign, You still reign, may each person know this and believe it, may they hear Your love and who they are in You louder than they hear the lies that come against them. We thank You for the hope that only comes from You. We love You, we praise You, we thank You, we exalt You, we give You all the glory, in Your powerful name we pray, AMEN!
Is your marriage in a tough spot? Maybe you are standing for your marriage...we've got a secret group on Facebook where we pray for and encourage husbands and wives as they pursue Jesus while standing for your marriage. Click here to join!
