With the chill in the air and talk of turkey and pumpkin pie, we know it's Thanksgivingtime. This weekend is filled with traditions, reminiscing, family, and food.
Thanksgiving holds a special place in my heart. It was the weekend before Thanksgiving 10 years ago that Scott and I took bold steps towards reconciling our marriage shortly after our divorce months earlier. Read about that powerful weekend: STOP! We're not taking one more step!
Rick & Beverly, Scott & I thank God for each of you. THANK YOU for traveling this journey with us. Real life has pulled us away from writing for a season, with Rick taking seminary classes and Beverly writing her book (Yes, she's finally publishing her book! Watch for details!!), speaking at churches and women's events over North Carolina, and taking our local pregnancy center to a 'hole 'nutha level as our pastor likes to say.
Scott and I have been on a new adventure (in addition to our positions at our church), speaking at FamilyLife's I Still Do in the fall of 2014, followed by a busy 2015 filled with The Art of Marriage Live events in California, Florida, Connecticut, and North Carolina. We're excited about the events lined up so far for 2016 in Texas, Michigan, South Carolina, and several in North Carolina (including our own church, The Bridge!).
We're also preparing for The Bridge's fourth annual Intentionally & Wonderfully Made women's event in January- it sold out back in October! The team is prayerfully and busily preparing for the 44 vendors, organizing 100+ volunteers to spend the day with Lysa TerKeurst and 1,200 of our closest friends. Beverly and I can't wait to share with you that day, too! Pray with us as we are in talks with our 2017 speaker...we love her and we know you will, too!
Know that everytime we think about you, we pray for you. We think of you often! We are grateful for your faithfulness, your love, and your support; knowing that there are many more steps in our journey together!
May the loving kindness of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and give you peace. Every time I think of you I thank God for you. I have joy in my heart every time I ask God to help you. I thank God for the joy we share in telling the good news from the very first day until now. God began to do a good work in you. And I am sure that he will keep on doing it until he has finished it. He will keep on until the day Jesus Christ comes again. -Philippians 1:3-6 WE
Speaking of reminiscing, as we are headlong into the holidays, here are some of our favorite holiday posts to help you focus on what really matters, and laugh a little, too:
- Don't be a Turkey- David reminds us of the importance God places on family.
- Going Cold Turkey- Beverly gets candid about trusting God for everything, including cooking a turkey.
- Blended Holiday- Alisha shares her stepfamily journey.
- The Miracle of Christmas Restoration- Katy's realization that restoration begins with the changes inside of herself.
- Love Letters- A precious Christmas tradition from Scott & Sherry that you can start today.
- Revelation- We could all use some revelation this morning to help us finish the race well.
We're excited about all that God is giving us to share with you in the remainder of 2015 and into 2016! From our families to yours, we wish you a grace, peace, love, and laughter filled Thanksgiving!
