Scott & Sherry

destroyed their marriage by attempting to have a fulfilling marital relationship apart from God, divorcing on their 14th wedding anniversary in 2005.

God still raises dead things to life. It was only by the grace of God, much humility, seeking and granting extravagant forgiveness and grace were they able to put Jesus Christ first, pursue each other and remarry, intentionally choosing to set aside their own selfish will in order to be married God’s way. Fueled by the redemption in their lives and marriage, God has placed a burden and calling on their hearts to reach couples and help them build strong relationships with God and their spouses in preparation for the difficulties that undoubtedly will come, so that they, too, are equipped for victory in marriage.

FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember Getaway saved their marriage in 2005. It also gave them the tools to help others build godly families. Part of the Raleigh, NC FamilyLife Homebuilder team since 2008, they serve at the Weekend to Remember Getaway, encourage couples in the use of The Art of Marriage, Stepping Up, Marriage Oneness, and Mentoring. They are NANC trained biblical counselors, certified Prepare Enrich facilitators and seminar directors, teach biblically based marriage classes, and share God’s truth at marriage retreats.

We are both so grateful to our parents, who chose to hand us a legacy of commitment and steadfastness in marriage. If only we’d followed their example- but God!
